Detectives are investigating a shooting in Golden Gardens Park in Ballard on Tuesday, July 18, which left one man wounded.

Witnesses began calling 911 a little after 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday to report multiple gunshots inside the park. The park is technically closed at this time.

Officers responded and were approached by a man who told them he had been shot in the back. The officers provided aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and could attend to the wound, a graze.

He was transported to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment.

Upon searching the park, officers found 21 rifle rounds and six .380 rounds near the area where witnesses reported the shooting occurred.

Witnesses at the scene said an argument began before an unidentified man took out a rifle and began firing. Another man pulled out a handgun and returned fire.
